Surgical Points:
There have been numerous papers published relating to the treatment of von Recklinghausen disease and the most important outcome sought by the surgeon is to obtain satisfactory aesthetic appearance and symmetry. The latter being more difficult to obtain. At the clinic, we utilize the method I published titled, "A systematic multiple stage surgical approach for attainment of satisfactory and favorable surgical results in an extremely severe von Recklinghausen's disease, elephantiasis neurofibromatosa." Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Volume 59, Issue 6, June 2006, Pages 662-674
